    Job Summary:

    The Field Service Technician – Firestop installs and repairs firestop, smoke-stop systems to restore rating to fire/smoke assemblies in compliance with NFPA/IBC/UL requirements. Work is conducted primarily in hospitals and commercial settings in various climates, often above ceiling grids, in dusty conditions.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Inspect & repair fire/smoke barriers per NFPA/IBC/UL requirements.
    • Read and interpret blueprints and life safety drawings.
    • Document inspection and repair results using a tablet-based electronic reporting system.
    • Provide accurate documentation for customers' code compliance.
    • Document repairs that cannot be completed, obtain and record specifications for materials to be ordered.
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing components.
    • Install access doors in rated assemblies.
    • Hang and repair drywall.
    • Installation and repair of wall assemblies (metal framing, gypsum, and masonry construction).
    • Load and unload project materials and equipment.
    • Complete prep work for applications.
    • Use common hand tools, such as hammers, knives, chisels, pliers, screwdrivers, saws, drills, etc.
    • Maintain equipment and tools.
    • Follow safety and infection control guidelines and procedures.

    • Maintain professional communication with customers and staff.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently and in teams.
    • Attend required training activities.
    • Support other service lines.
    • Willingness to travel extensively.

    Requirements and Preferred Experience:

    • 1+ year of experience in firestop inspection, repair, and installation.
    • Commercial drywall repair and installation experience.
    • Fire caulking experience.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Understanding of iOS products and electronic reporting.
    • Experience with life safety plans and NFPA.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Regularly stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
    • Work in small, tight, or confined spaces.
    • Working on ladders for extended periods.
    • Working inside containment units.
    • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Extended hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends, may be required.

    Additional Requirements:

    • 21 years of age.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Pass drug screen, criminal background check, and driver's license check.
    • Able to travel up to 100% of the time.
