    Overview / Objective


    The NFL is looking for a software engineer who is passionate about data and writing software to provide world-class experiences to our millions of fans.


    This individual will be responsible for writing/testing code, participate in code reviews, and implementing the best-in-class platform for football statistics.


    You and the team will work on the ingestion of all football data spanning from traditional box scores to live tracking data from Next Gen Stats.

    We're looking for someone who is collaborative, resourceful, and can communicate complex ideas with ease.

    This position requires excellent communication skills, and a "get-it-done" mindset to ensure results are delivered while also encouraging creativity, innovation, and inclusion.

    The ideal candidate is adept at contributing to the design of a solution and can roll up their sleeves to be a key contributor.

    Responsibilities


    Be a contributor in the development and maintenance of the Digital Media data engineering and Next Gen Stats platforms which provides football data to multiple departments in and outside of the organization.

    Help your team execute sound solutions and approaches to meet business expectations in an efficient manner

    Write quality code and participate in code reviews


    Participate with the team to deliver and execute the technical and product roadmap for data engineering across a variety of technologies.

    Identify opportunities for improvement in engineering practices and software delivery

    Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

    Required Qualifications

    3+ years working as an engineer at a software or media company

    3+ years of experience building server-side software using at least one of: Java, Scala, Python and NodeJS.

    3+ years of experience in AWS technologies

    2+ years working with MongoDB or Cassandra

    2+ years of experience working with 1 of the following relational databases:

    PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server

    Knowledge of best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

    Superior communication and people skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    Degree in computer science, engineering, data science or related field preferred.

    Experience delivering AI/ML models in production highly desired.

    Familiarity with CI/CD build and deployment practices

    Experience working with large data sets and high I/O a plus.

    Experience with Cloud based solutions a plus.

    Experience or academic knowledge or Machine Learning/AI is a plus.
