    Position Summary: The Senior Aviation Project Manager plays a pivotal role in leading, planning, and overseeing airfield construction projects at LAWA. This position demands a high level of technical and managerial expertise in airside construction, with a primary focus on ensuring compliance with FAA standards and requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management of project teams, schedules, and budgets to achieve project objectives and meet stakeholder expectations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead construction-related meetings, presenting to stakeholders including LAWA staff, the FAA, airlines, and other federal and state agencies.
    • Ensure deep understanding and adherence to contractual obligations and the technical specifications of construction projects.
    • Coordinate project activities among contractors, LAWA departments, the FAA, and other relevant parties to ensure smooth operations.
    • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and administrative procedures as per LAWA directives.
    • Manage and review construction plans, schedules, and contractor submissions to ensure project milestones are met.
    • Implement and maintain stringent document control and record-keeping practices to meet audit standards.
    • Facilitate effective communication and coordination regarding environmental, sustainability, and labor compliance requirements.
    • Provide comprehensive management of change orders, cost estimates, dispute resolution, and claims avoidance.

    Requirements:

    • Over 10 years of experience in airside construction or large civil/structural projects, with a strong preference for candidates with 15 years of experience.
    • Mandatory experience in airfield construction, including a thorough understanding of FAA standards and technical expertise in the construction and management of airfield pavements and navigational aids (NAVAIDS).
    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential preferred.
    • Proven leadership and project management capabilities.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly to a variety of audiences.
    • Proficiency with Prolog, Primavera, and other relevant project management software is preferred.
    • State of California Professional Engineer's license is a plus.

    • Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, and industry practices.
    • Ability to work collaboratively, demonstrating a results-driven focus and initiative.
    • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
