    Description

    Position Summary

    This position requires a positive attitude, a strong skillset of data-driven decision making and must be able to communicate clearly with others as a leader. Establishes, manages, reviews, and maintains production schedules for assigned work centers to ensure the company meets its customer commitments in an efficient manner. Working with operations, sales, and supply chain, will analyze work center loads for effective capacity planning. Takes an active role and is in daily communication with all departments to effectively deliver an organized workflow. Maintains and reviews production schedules ensuring timely completion of manufacturing to meet promised customer ship requirements. Will answer related inquiries for all levels of the organization. Demonstrates ability to take directions as well as give instructions to others with a goal of meeting the scheduling requirements. Able to meet deadlines and exercise good judgment regarding related items.

    Essential Duties:

    • Responsible of all purchasing process related with direct and indirect components, materials and services to support manufacturing operations.
    • Responsible to align capabilities and leading tactical buyers in multiple locations and countries.
    • Ensure the optimal inventory levels through the application of lean manufacturing initiatives.
    • With the purchasing team's support ensure the correct supply of components, materials and number of parts to maintain material health targets.
    • Drive internal adoption to established procurement policy and process, strategic sourcing, supplier selection (Specifically for indirect) - proposal analysis, SOW clarification, contract negotiations (Indirect), supplier database management and purchase order creation.
    • Support Strategic Purchasing in developing sourcing strategies to achieve aggressive cost reduction targets while driving for a high quality and highly flexible and responsive supply-base.
    • Assist in driving key procurement initiatives to support the ongoing transformation and continuous improvement of systems and processes in the procurement organization along with other projects as directed by management.
    • Supports new processes, special programs and new production lines in indirect purchasing assuring adequate delivery, quality and cost of equipment and tools needs for projects.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Management of buyers

    Creates, trains and supports purchasing buyers on standard work, in order to maintain consistency in quality and quantity of work output.

    • Purchase order approval
    • Alerts Strategic Purchasing when supplier capacity outputs need to be raised to support operations.
    • Select talent, train, and develop skills of purchasing department.
    • Lead buyers to meet target metrics.
    • Management of overall team performance including annual appraisals
    • Phase in and phase out of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for all buyers.
    • Effectively manages task breakdown, helps keep individual contributors on task, player-coach; ability to step in and perform hard tasks.

    Supplier Management

    Ensure suppliers meet key performance objectives.

    • Lead development of supplier strategies to meet Company performance and growth.
    • Support supply risk assessment
    • If required participate in supplier audits, and capability assessments.
    • Provide data for forecast and performance reviews with key suppliers to support supply planning and buffer demand volatility.

    Production Support

    Track line down occurrences due to material shortages and perform root cause analysis.

    • Implement corrective actions to remove supply chain risk.
    • Ensure expeditious delivery of all critical materials.
    • Drive improvement initiatives with production management as applicable

    Cost and Contracting

    Support annual cost reductions to achieve corporate initiative plan.

    • Lead implementation of business and quality agreements with key indirect suppliers to secure expectations for delivery, quality, cost and other obligations of the business relationship
    • Supports standard cost setting activities.

    Inventory Management

    Implement inventory management techniques (Kanban) to increase raw material inventory turns performance.

    • Manage excess and obsolescence review process.
    • Increase productivity of buyers by transitioning from paper-based system to ERP system.
    • Paperless record management

    Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

    BS degree or equivalent and 10+ years of experience managing a purchasing team in high and low volume-manufacturing environments.

    • Significant computer experience including MS Office products and ERP systems.
    • Hands on NetSuite experience is a must.
    • Thorough knowledge of and experience working with Kanban systems and other lean principles.
    • Detailed working knowledge of buying, material planning, master scheduling and forecasting.
    • Proven ability to lead a team to achieve stretch goals and objectives. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects successfully.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. English.
    • Strong negotiation skills and experience with proven track record of savings.
    • Demonstrates competence in key areas of management and leadership expertise including relationship and conflict management, communication, staff direction and motivation, financial planning and control, quality management, risk management, and the achievement of targets.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with others to reach mutually agreeable outcomes, ability to successfully follow an effective escalation process, if needed.
    • Experience in ISO9001/13485, or medical device manufacturing environment is a must.
