Job Overview

This role is embedded in the Manufacturing Engineering group within our Global Operations Engineering team at our new state-of-the-art device manufacturing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Together with the rest of your team, you will support the automated production of sub-components, packaging materials, and assemblies for our autoinjector system.

Main Responsibilities

Lead and support troubleshooting and issue resolution of critical production equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.
Provide mechanical leadership and support for the rest of the department, including uprev'ing designs, drawings, & and schematics
Improve system and equipment reliability for the core processes to meet all customer, business, and regulatory requirements.

Lead the development of equipment improvement plans, including proposing new designs and retrofits, getting stakeholder buy-in, working with relevant vendors, and managing implementation & testing.

Lead and support commissioning and acceptance testing of new production equipment.
Manage technology transfer (receiver function) of new equipment into mass production.
Support validation activities for new equipment and processes as necessary
Lead and support the identification of novel production equipment for next-gen manufacturing systems.
Promote the use of new technologies and industry-leading trends. Provide the highest level of technical expertise.

Collaborate closely with production teams, machine builders, process/product development groups, and the quality department on performance/process improvements, troubleshooting, and critical event response.

Skills and Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Several years of relevant hands-on experience working with automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment
Expertise with CAD software (2D & 3D); experience designing custom parts for production equipment.
Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, & pneumatic systems
Passionate & committed self-starter with the ability to work independently and strong attention to detail.
Excellent intercultural and interdisciplinary communication skills
Experience/knowledge of metal processing/forming and/or vacuum thermoforming.
Previous exposure to a highly regulated industry (e.g. medical, pharmaceutical) and knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. ISO13485, cGMP)
Knowledge of common problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies
Willingness to initially spend an extended period in our facility in Taiwan for induction/training.


Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Prolonged standing, bending/stooping, & manipulating objects.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Occasional travel may be required (10%).
