    Description
    SAIC is seeking a Defense Sr. Electrical Engineer with strong DSP, FPGA, and VHDL design skills to join our team in Crane, IN.

    The selected candidate will have a diverse background in power systems, digital circuits, and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGAs). The core responsibilities are to support and maintain DoD systems. This will include reverse engineering, design improvements, and overseeing Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) development of new systems.

    The candidate will review VHSIC Hardware Description Language (VHDL) code and work with formal change processes to design and implement new VHDL code for existing designs.


    JOB DUTIES:
    Reverse designs with little or no documentation

    Fault isolate to root cause

    Develop new designs and fabricate prototypes

    Work on Change Control Board (CCB) to evaluate bugs and feature enhancements

    Review VHDL code of existing designs and modify/design new algorithms

    Analyze requirements and generate derive requirements down to hardware configuration items

    Participate with multi-disciplinary teams to review architectures and requirements through peers review e.g. System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Production Readiness Review (PRR)

    Qualifications


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Must have obtained a BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent STEM major and nine (9) years or more experience; OR Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; OR PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience

    Interim secret clearance required to start with ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.

    Must be a US Citizen

    Must have experience with gated process development

    Proficiency in VHDL code development, simulation, and verification

    Expertise in laboratory debug techniques

    Must have a fundamental understanding of chassis power designs

    Must have a fundamental understanding of digital board level electrical interfaces, including ADCs, DACs, DSPs, High Speed SERDES, Flash and SDRAM

    Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook


    DESIRED SKILLS:
    Experience with DoD Radio Frequency (RF) systems

    Experience with OpenVPX

    Experience with Scopes, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Power Meters, ModelSim, MATLAB, CAD
