    Description

    Summary You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT (CODE 900), PIPE SHOP of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

    Duties * You will manage the maintenance schedule and sequence maintenance to support waterfront execution priorities. * You will maintain a personal knowledge of all significant related work scheduled for the assigned area of responsibility. * You will validate equipment records in electronic Facilities and Equipment Maintenance (eFEM) and update all data as required.

    * You will act as an advisor on all equipment issues and assist the management team with equipment budgets and equipment procurements.

    * You will manage the relocation, installation, and disposal of all equipment. * You will manage the overall lifecycle management plan for all shop-owned equipment. * You will perform other duties as assigned.     * You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.

    * You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

    * Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

    * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.

    You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

    Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.


    Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

    • Experience formulating maintenance concepts, forecasting usage rates, and establishing effective repair and replacement strategies for equipment;
    • Experience preparing budgets based on maintenance plans and new service requirements;
    • Experience applying new developments in data analytics to prevent production delays, scheduling conflicts, material shortages, and process inefficiencies;
    • Experience using job-relevant information systems and/or software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, automated research tools, database applications, and the Internet for material identification, drawing specifications, and the preparation of technical work instructions.
