    Job Description

    The PRN-Catering Coordinator is responsible for preparing and serving catered functions, coordinating supplies, food, and supplemental staffing as needed. They will work with the Food Services Operations Manager or Supervisor and the Event and Multimedia Specialist to coordinate events and catering functions.

    The coordinator may also be requested to complete other food service duties such as light food preparation, cafeteria service, cashiering, or patient tray service functions. They must take into consideration age-related factors when performing food service functions for pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in accordance with departmental standards and diet manuals.

    The PRN-Catering Coordinator coordinates the duties and schedules for the catering program and directs additional staff as needed for larger functions. They serve food accurately and timely to customers according to departmental standards and respond to customer needs in a timely manner.

    The coordinator coordinates catering menu selections with customers, production staff, Director/Manager/Supervisor, correctly interprets and prepares menus for catering functions, processes all software, paperwork, and calendars for catering functions as provided through the Meeting Room Manager or any future scheduling/ordering software.

    They check food and supplies for compliance with sanitation and safety according to departmental standards, store food and supplies according to departmental standards, identify and report defective equipment in a timely manner to manager, supervisor, and facilities department through hospital-approved reporting systems.

    The PRN-Catering Coordinator performs cleaning activities according to departmental standards, utilizes proper channels of communication to resolve departmental issues on an ongoing basis, attends and participates in staff meetings and in-services according to departmental standards, maintains a neat, clean, and safe work environment according to departmental standards.

    They demonstrate the ability to function independently in the absence of a supervisor by solving routine problems, consistently function as a resource to other members of the department, and perform other duties as assigned.

    The PRN-Catering Coordinator actively participates in and/or leads catering service initiatives as defined by the department.

    Work Environment

    The PRN-Catering Coordinator works in a fast-paced healthcare environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. They must be able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and maintain a positive attitude in a demanding situation.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • CPR certification required.
    • Previous experience in food service or related field preferred.
    • Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

    Languages

    English is the primary language used in this role.
