    Provides supervision, management, support, and leadership for nursing personnel to perform total quality patient care. Coordinates the nursing staff and assists in the accomplishment of nursing tasks in compliance with the established philosophies, objectives, policies and procedures of the department and the facility. Remains knowledgeable of and enforces the regulations and standards required by Medicare, Medicaid, Federal, State, and local governments.

    Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for the completion of the MDS nursing section.
    • May be responsible to work on unit, do medication passes.
    • Participates in Manager on Duty, a weekend on-call program
    • Participates in weekly plan of care meetings, promotes the interdisciplinary team approach.
    • Keeps ADON/DON informed of neighbor status through verbal and/or written communication.
    • Performs regular clinical rounds of neighbors and nursing staff. Monitor neighbors who have episodic illness. Assists nurses with admissions, transfers and all emergency situations including, but not limited to, technical procedures when necessary.
    • Assists physicians as needed.
    • Performs a total physical assessment of all critical neighbors.
    • Makes sure that all documentation regarding the death is complete.
    • Recognizes unsafe and unclean conditions and implements corrective action to provide neighbors and personnel with a healthy, clean, and safe environment.
    • Ensures timely and proper handling of accident/incident reports and checks to see that documentation is accurate/complete and that proper follow up is performed.
    • Oversees the management of the unit. Reviews charts for completion and documentation accuracy.
    • Ensures correct narcotic count and documentation of controlled substances on unit.
    • Ensures that O2 equipment, enteral feeding pumps, suction machines and other specialized equipment is functioning and that needed supplies are available.
    • Deals effectively, professionally, and tactfully with neighbors and family complaints.
    • Observes undesirable visitors within the facility and assists in maintaining internal and external security.
    • Maintains staff morale and promotes their working together as a unified team.
    • Prepares, reviews, and submits written documentation to the ADON/DON on personnel's performance and any disciplinary action taken for conduct contrary to facility policy. Responsible for supervising, evaluating, counseling and disciplining personnel on assigned unit.
    • Assists in orientation and on the job training of new employees and ongoing education of staff.
    • Performs direct neighbor care and other job-related duties as required.
    Requirements:

    Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the State Board of Nursing

    Excellent work ethic

    Must have demonstrated ability to make decisions with good nursing judgment, handle emergencies and maintain excellent patient assessment skill.

    Compensation:

    Rate will be commensurate with experience/licensure.
