We are looking for motivated people to help us keep the flowers on 395 beautiful and perform basic maintenance around town.

The approximate duration of the position is from May 2026 to October 2026 with approximately 40 hours weekly during this period.
Please note, you must describe and demonstrate your experience with general lawn/plant care, maintenance or custodial.
Primary Objectives
Performs intermediate work performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the care and maintenance of buildings, facilities and grounds. Assisting with rental facilities and their customers; performing related tasks as apparent or assigned.
This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Essential Functions
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains and promotes town maintained plants, shrubs, trees, and grasses.
Coordinates and schedules the rental of facilities with the public for events and activities; ensures proper setup of facilities; opens and closes facilities.
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and polishes floors; sweeps, vacuums and spot cleans carpeted areas.Dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork; dusts counters, windowsills, window blinds and similar fixtures.
Empties, cleans and lines waste receptacles and disposes of trash.
Washes doors, windows, walls, ceilings, window blinds and furniture; polishes metalwork.
Cleans and disinfects restrooms; restocks restroom supplies as necessary.
Performs basic building repair work; may paint facilities and perform graffiti removal; maintains drinking fountains; clean and change light bulbs.
Closes windows, turns off lights, and locks doors to secure buildings.Reports the need for maintenance or repair of facilities to the appropriate supervisor; corrects or reports any fire or safety hazards and places barriers in public areas.
Inspects, cleans and maintains park grounds, athletic fields, campsites, paved areas and paths as required.Maintains equipment, materials and supplies in proper condition.
Observes safe working practices, including maintaining storage areas in a safe condition.
Answers questions and provides standard information to the public.
Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.
Keeps basic records of work performed, time sheets, etc.Maintains inventory of necessary supplies.
May assist town staff in basic road maintenance.
May perform Town commercial and residential trash collection as required.
Sets-up meeting rooms, sound equipment and rearranges furniture.
Uses County vehicle to perform various tasks related to job duties.
Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Position requires a High School diploma or GED and 1 year of experience performing general maintenance and custodial duties; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.
Work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and repetitive motions; frequently requires kneeling or crawling; occasionally requires climbing or balancing and tasting or smelling.
Work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communication and/or to make fine distinctions in sound.
Work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operating machinery, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.
Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).Work occasionally requires exposure to wet/humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, working in high/precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather), exposure to the risk of electrical shock, exposure to vibration and exposure to bloodborne pathogens (may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment).

No Nevada State income tax.
Retirement – Public Employees' Retirement System of Nevada (PERS)
Douglas County contributes 36.75% of an eligible regular member and 50% of an eligible Police and Fire member's salary for retirement.
Deferred Compensation Plans – Employees have the option to participate in a deferred compensation program through VOYA, which is funded by the employee.
Vacation:
Accrued at the rate of hours per pay period, or 120 hours per year (increase with years of service).
Sick Leave :
Earned at the rate of hours per pay period, or 96 hours per year.
Holidays: 12 paid holidays per year.

Compensation
Douglas County uses a Pay for Performance compensation system, where employees receive annual performance evaluations and may be eligible for merit-based salary increases.
Qualified employees can earn up to a 3% merit increase on their anniversary date, and may also receive an annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) during the first pay period of each fiscal year, based on the Consumer Price Index, up to a maximum of 5%.
In addition, eligible employees who demonstrate exceptional, above-and-beyond performance may receive further compensation through the County's Recognition of Excellence Program.
