    Description

    Putnam is looking to hire a Staffing Manager for our strategy business who will oversee, manage, and execute all staffing and project assignments for our Consulting business. Resource management and project staffing is an integral part of how we drive success for our employees, our business, and our clients. You will work collaboratively with leadership, consulting teams, operations, and HR to understand project and team needs in balance with employee expertise and growth opportunities - creating well prepared teams to drive impact. We are looking for an analytical, high-EQ, ultra-organized person to support the balance of many stakeholders while providing a tailored experience aimed at serving the unique needs of each Putnam consulting team member.

    The Staffing Manager will also collaborate extensively across various departments within Putnam including the C-suite, Operations Team, Finance Team, and HR team - and they will manage the operations associate team member.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Resource Management (Staffing)

    • Allocate staff to every project, ensuring well-structured and balanced teams that can deliver against the project objectives
    • Ability to balance important needs and requirements of Partners/Principals for staffing client assignments, with the needs and professional development interests of our consulting staff
    • Utilize Financial Force for staffing with Partners, Principals and staff
    • Look for ways to optimize and streamline staffing processes to lead the modernization of staffing
    • Monitor the project pipeline with special attention to capacity shortages and overages that could have significant business impact
    • Communicate staffing outlook and constraints to the leadership team regularly and effectively
    • Balance staffing preferences, development needs and business imperatives for staff across all levels
    • Manage staffing cohorts maintaining balance, collecting preferences, and making ultimate decisions to maintain integrity of each cohort structure
    • Run monthly pulse surveys and analyzing output for executives
    • Oversee staffing cohort change requests and processes, etc.
    • Manage the Operations Associate who supports resource management and related operations activities
    Consulting Career Progression Support
    • Develop awareness of consulting staff needs as it relates to project staffing to support employee engagement and retention
    • Invest time and energy in cultivating trust-based relationships with staff to support engagement
    • Contribute to performance reviews for Consulting team bringing data from staffing activities and feedback
    • Track performance and promotions for all consulting staff, including monitoring End of Case Reviews and tracking staff development needs as it relates to staffing
    • Support Learning & Development team with cohort management as needed
    Reporting & Forecasting
    • Work with the Operations Associate to create, run, maintain and enhance weekly reports and forecasts to highlight overall staffing environment including available team members and pipeline opportunities
    • Identify opportunities and ideas to connect staffing trends to help inform hiring decisions
    • Assist with slide preparation to summarize reporting/forecasting outputs as needed
    • Support any implementation and change management of staffing related components related to the Financial Force platform
    Desired Skills & Experience
    • A bachelor's degree and minimum 3 - 5 years in HR, employee operations, and/or staffing is ideal
    • Experience and understanding of project scoping, resource allocation, and project planning
    • Experience working collaboratively with project teams
    • Experience managing junior staff
    • Comfortable working in a team-based environment as well as working independently to drive impact
    • Strives for efficient and effective processes and improvement to allow for teams to work better together and for project managers to work effectively with operations.
    • Comfortable working with teams from across the globe
    • Very strong service orientation who takes a collaborative approach to problem solving
    • Proven ability to develop strong relationships and develop trust and confidence in consulting staff
    • Ability to balance important needs and requirements of Partners/Principals for staffing client assignments, with the needs and professional development interests of our consulting staff
