    Job Description


    As a key leadership role within the Iowa Park facility, the Materials Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire materials management process. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role involves leading and managing cross-functional teams including Purchasing, Warehouse and Logistics, Production Control, Raw Material Handling, and Production Clerks. The primary focus will be on ensuring the seamless flow of materials throughout the manufacturing process, from procurement to production, and through to distribution.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Team Leadership:

    • Directly lead and manage the Purchasing team, Warehouse and Logistics team, and Production Control team

    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the materials management teams.

    • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to team members, promoting continuous improvement and skill development.

    Procurement:

    • Oversee the purchasing process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, production supplies, and maintenance spare parts.

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and agreements.

    • Monitor market trends, identify potential risks, and implement strategic sourcing initiatives.

    • Ensure proper delivery of Raw Materials, including coordination with Railroads for resin railcar switches and demerge charges.

    • Ensure an adequate supply for production while meeting SEE Corporate inventory dollar goals.

    Warehouse and Logistics:

    • Coordinate logistics and transportation activities to ensure on-time delivery and cost-effectiveness.

    • Oversee all Warehouse cycle-counts and audits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of inventory reporting.

    • Implement best practices for inventory control, cycle counting, and order fulfillment.

    • Oversee the handling, storage, and movement of raw materials throughout the manufacturing process.

    Production Control:

    • Collaborate with Production Control to ensure accurate production planning and scheduling.

    • Monitor production orders, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of key metrics.

    • Address any production-related issues promptly to maintain optimal workflow.

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities:


    • Strong leadership and team management skills.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, warehouse management, and logistics.

    • Familiarity with ERP systems and other relevant software.

    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.

    • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

    • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and a dynamic manufacturing environment.

    Education and experience:


    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.

    • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in materials management within a manufacturing environment.
