    Job Description

    As a Manager of Tax Accounting at e-j-gallo-winery, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing our income, sales, use, and property taxes across multiple states. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of our tax returns and related compliance reporting.

    You will manage both direct and indirect tax functions to ensure full compliance with laws and regulations, minimizing risks and exposure. Your expertise will be crucial in understanding product taxability across jurisdictions, providing tax advice, and implementing tax planning opportunities.

    You will work closely with the Senior Tax Director to make informed tax decisions and participate in preparing and managing our departmental budget.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage direct and indirect tax functions to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
    • Analyze tax situations and communicate strategies across all levels of the organization.
    • Design, maintain, and implement the ERP system's tax-related aspects to enhance efficiency and reduce expenses.
    • Develop and support Indirect Tax staff, ensuring they are trained in tax research techniques and up-to-date with industry trends and changing laws.

    Requirements

    • MBA or Master's degree in Accounting plus 2 years of progressive related tax experience OR Bachelor's degree plus 5 years progressive related tax experience to include supervisory experience.
    • CPA license.
    • Prior experience within the manufacturing or agricultural industry.
    • Experience developing and implementing processes, procedures, systems, and standards.
    • Management strength to provide motivational guidance and direction.

    What Sets You Apart

    • MBA or Master's degree in Accounting plus 5 years of progressive related tax experience to include 2 years in a tax leadership role OR Bachelor's degree in Accounting plus 7 years tax experience to include supervisory or managerial experience.
    • Prior experience within the manufacturing or agricultural industry.
    • Experience developing and implementing processes, procedures, systems, and standards.
    • Comfortable and effective in the role of change agent.
