    Position description



    Matthew Brenner, M.D., anticipates openings for research scientists at various Specialists levels. Positions are dependent on extramural funding, research contracts of individual Principal Investigator, and candidate's level of experience. The initial position may be for up to one year, with the possibility of renewal.

    Junior Specialists - Should possess a baccalaureate degree by the date of hire(or equivalent degree preferably in Physics, Chemistry, or Optical Engineering) or equivalent research experience.

    Assistant Specialists - Should possess expertise consistent with four to six years of training and/or experience in the relevant specialization. Appropriate qualifications for appointees at this rank would include possession of a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, or possession of a relevant baccalaureate degree plus three or more years of research experience.

    Associate Specialists - Should possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or 5-10 yrs. of experience.

    Specialists - Should possess a terminal degree (PhD/MD) (or equivalent degree) or 10+ yrs. of experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Ability to explain procedures and protocols.

    Diffuse optical spectroscopy (DOS) monitoring experience.

    Laser instruments and laser safety knowledge.

    Experience in animal anesthesia, intubation, ventilation, airway management, monitoring, IV placement, and IM shots.

    Some experience in photography and digital imaging systems for experimental documentation, and presentation preparation.

    Ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting.
