    Job Requirements:

    1. High school graduate or GED preferred.
    2. Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a long-term care environment preferred.
    3. Meets all state and local requirements for certification as a Certified Nurse Aide and Food Handling.
    4. Commitment to person-centered and resident-directed care is essential.
    5. Completion of cross training for household activities, household housekeeping, household laundry and household homemaking, including food service and food handling required.
    Responsibilities:

    Meets all resident and household needs by actively assisting (to the extent of cross training and certification) in all tasks to meet identified needs.
    • Clinical
    1. Responsible for attending to personal hygiene and personal care needs of the residents of the household, including but not limited to grooming, hygiene, dining and nutritional, mobility, elimination, psychosocial and safety needs.
    2. Supports residents in self care, and provides care as necessary for those unable to care for their own needs.
    3. Follows universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation and safety standards of practice in all work and activities.
    4. Participates actively in the resident's care planning and care conference, serving as the residents' closest advocate in directing their care and honoring their preferences.
    5. Observes residents closely, identifying changing needs and conditions at first indication, and reports immediately to nursing or household leadership as appropriate.
    6. Consistently works with all household team members, led by resident and family preference to meet the needs and desires of all household residents.
    • Dining Services
    1. Helps to prepare and serve appropriate snacks and meals. Requires certification in food handling.
    2. Assists elders who are unable to eat without support as appropriate.
    3. Facilitates mealtime conversations and maintains a warm, pleasant atmosphere while elders are eating.
    4. Assists with kitchen-related activities for the residents.
    • Life Enhancement
    1. Assists with the planning and organizing of social activities for individual residents, small groups and for the household.
    2. Continually seeks opportunities to support the social needs of all members of the household through support, friendship and kindness.
    3. Seeks opportunities throughout the day to facilitate spontaneous activities of resident choice and household preference; accompanies residents in all activities of choice.
    4. Continually seeks opportunities to share person interests and talents with members of the household through both planned and spontaneous activities.
    • Housekeeping
    1. Maintains clean spaces in the household, including resident rooms and household common spaces, as well as support spaces and equipment.
    2. Maintains supply of all materials to meet resident needs in the household.
    3. Coordinates work with the household homemaker to ensure the housekeeping needs of the household are met within the staffing resources of the household.
    • Laundry
    1. Provides assistance to ensure residents' personal laundry is maintained in quality condition.
