    COMET Medical Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant – Posting #22-178

    MAJOR DUTIES: This member of the Mental Health team works under the unit Program Director and is responsible for assessing physical health needs; making appropriate referrals to community physicians; providing management and administration of medication in conjunction with the provider and nursing staff; and providing of a range of treatment, rehabilitation, and support services. The MA/CNA plays an important role in patient care by supporting the providers and patients throughout their entire visit and is considered an integral part of the team. The MA/CNA role will include both medical and case management of clients on the COMET team. In fulfilling these duties the incumbent performs the following duties independently:

    • Participate in ongoing psychosocial assessment of the goals and needs of the mental health clients.
    • Obtaining routine labs per provider orders, including collecting and processing lab samples to send out to the laboratory, appropriate POC testing, and venipuncture.
    • Administer injectable medications ordered by the provider and appropriately documenting these in accordance with team protocols.
    • Completing and documenting provider orders.
    • Assisting providers and care team with both internal and external patient medical and mental health referrals.
    • Following up on patient referrals and treatment, including supporting patients at external medical appointments.
    • Receive, document and direct patient phone calls in a timely manner according to team protocol.
    • Assist in scheduling appointments and completing prior authorizations.
    • Contact pharmacies to assist with medication refills per provider request.
    • Educate clients regarding psychotropic medications.
    • Complete all required documentation in an accurate, complete, and timely manner per agency policies and procedures.
    • Participate in the implementation of agency tracking systems and chart audit procedures.
    • Maintain the safety, security, and confidentiality of clients and their families.
    • Ensure own professional development and maintain licensure and/or certification requirements.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Current MA, or CNA credential in the state of Washington; with phlebotomy certification if holding CNA credential.
    • Current BLS CPR/1st Aid certification required.
    • Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous supports and services.
    • A strong commitment to working collaboratively, assertively and interdependently with co-workers.
    • Skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and organize work to satisfactory completion.
    • Current unencumbered driver license and proof of current car insurance may be required.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Great attendance.
    • Ability to work well with others.

    Salary: DOE

    MA: $18.75- $19.75/hr

    CNA: $ $19.25/hr

The plan covers 85% of medical, dental, and vision costs at the employee level and 75% for all dependent plans. The majority of out-of-pocket costs for co-pays, prescriptions, and deductible under the medical plan are also covered.     Our fulltime employees and some part time employees also qualify for our 401(K) plan that matches dollar for dollar up to 5%. On top of all that, our fulltime employees receive approximately 4 weeks of paid time off during their first year of employment (accrual rates increase with years of service), as well as 1 personal holiday and 12 paid holidays per year
