    Your Role

    This Compensation team provides leadership and guidance in the development and delivery of effective compensation strategies and policies that support BSCs goals and are in alignment with enterprise values, philosophy, and strategic direction. The Sales Compensation Analyst, Consultant will report to the Senior Director, Compensation. In this role, you will focus on delivering and collaborating on Blue Shields corporate and sales compensation programs as well as providing counsel and recommendations to the business to ensure understanding and effective use of our compensation programs. The role oversees the sales compensation programs and supports the broad-based and executive compensation programs.

    Your Work

    In this role, you will:

    • Maintain a thorough understanding of BSCs strategic direction, ensuring alignment of business specific compensation programs and policies with established enterprise total rewards principles and objectives
    • Oversee and maintain accountability of sales compensation plans, including governance, market intelligence and regular monitoring and validation to ensure plan outcomes are as intended in the design
    • Manage and administer sales compensation activities including, but not limited to, benchmarking, new hire and promotional offer generation and robust documentation of incentive plan policies, practices and procedures, and administration
    • Execute and recommend improvements for compensation programs potentially including base pay, executive compensation, sales compensation, annual review, job architecture and short- and long-term incentive plans, along with the supporting systems
    • Conduct job evaluations to ensure that positions are evaluated against an established set of criteria, are leveled consistently across the organization and create a common job framework with strong documentation
    • Ensures that our current programs reinforce behaviors that are critical to the companys success and keep employees engaged
    • Partner in the creation of effective compensation communications to ensure employees continually understand and value BSCs Total Rewards suite of offerings
    • Oversee survey participation ensuring timely participation, analysis of survey results and availability of survey data
    • Advise and support People & Engagement on questions of policy and interpretation of plans by preparing analysis and reports while partnering internally with other subject matter experts
    • Enhance policies, practices and procedures consistent with compensation philosophy

    Your Knowledge and Experience

    • Requires a bachelors degree or equivalent experience
    • Requires at least 7 years of prior relevant experience in compensation
    • Requires a minimum of 3 years in sales compensation
    • Experience in the design and implementation of sales compensation programs
    • Knowledge of BSC or similar health care, insurance, and/or financial services organization structure preferred
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to have difficult conversations
    • Demonstrated leadership, project management, program evaluation, and consulting skills with the ability to coach and mentor
    • Ability to successfully interact with all levels, including senior management, and influence decision-making
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint required
