- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess an unexpected situation and devise and implement appropriate responses.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, City officials, employees, and members of the public verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and in conjunction with team members of the Public Works Department to ensure contractor compliance with all required construction work and codes and relevant engineering guidelines.
- Ability to perform essential job functions which include tedious, exacting work and which also frequently require changing tasks and performing multiple tasks simultaneously under time pressures.
- Ability to effectively plan and prioritize tasks as well as oversee, direct, review, and analyze proposals, plans, and drawings submitted by contractors.

The Opportunity
The City of Coppell Public Works- Engineering Inspections Division seeks to bring on a Right-of-Way (ROW) Inspector, responsible for ensuring compliance with approved plans, city ordinances, codes, and construction standards in the city right-of-way and utility easements in the restoration of streets and parkways. Daily operations include utility line locates for projects within the right of way, monitoring construction activities, conducting inspections, reviewing permit plans, and communicating with contractors, builders, and the public.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a minimum of five years of construction and/or utility maintenance experience and possess knowledge of property rights, land acquisition, right-of-way safety regulations, and best practices. In addition, qualified candidates will possess strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills with the ability to work independently and in conjunction with team members.
Short-term goals are technically focused, including learning our Laserfiche Digital Repository and GIS systems. While long-term goals are geared towards cross-training with Construction Inspectors and personal and professional development opportunities.

Pay PlanThe ROW Inspector position is non-exempt and on Pay Grade #10. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.
Hiring Range: $23.62-$32.30

Mid $28.93 ($60,168)
Max $34.24 ($71,215)
