    Description

    LabCorp is seeking an Associate Clinical Lab Director in Biochemical Genetics who will review assays and sign out patient reports for inborn error of metabolism testing and analysis for lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs). Cases include errors of metabolism, enzyme analysis, maternal serum screening, and adverse outcomes of pregnancy.

    The schedule for this position will be: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with the option to be remote. If remote, occasional travel to RTP, NC is required.

    Technical Responsibilities:

    • Review of each assigned patient case for accuracy and interpretation of data with minimal leadership oversight.
    • Oversee adherence to accepted technical procedures and policies as well as assisting in troubleshooting technical problems as necessary for biochemical genetics laboratory.
    • Communicate as needed with referring physicians and clients.
    • Review laboratory data, assign interpretations, review and signoff on batch lists.
    • Recommends changes for the laboratory to improve performance and/or correct any deficiencies as needed.

    Administrative Responsibilities:

    • Facilitate interdepartmental workflow through collaboration with operations and laboratory.
    • Maintains credentials and NYS certification (when applicable).
    • Reviews scientific literature and attends scientific meetings.
    • Analyzes data for presentations and publications as needed.
    • Ability to travel on site occasionally.

    Job Requirements:

    • M.D. or PhD in a biologic, chemical or physical science is required.
    • The candidate must be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Biochemical Genetics (ABMG) or Clinical Chemistry (ABCC). If Board-eligible, the candidate does not have to pass the exam before start.
    • A minimum of 2 years experience in a clinical laboratory setting is required.
    • Experience in signing out cases for related to inborn errors of metabolism, enzyme analysis, maternal serum screening, and adverse outcomes of pregnancy is highly preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is highly preferred

    Work from home requirements:

    • The candidate must have a home office space that is a dedicated room, not shared with other people, and meets HIPAA compliance.
    • The candidate must agree to have their home address added to reports of cases you analyze or report. This is a CMS requirement.
    • Wired or wireless internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec is required.
    • The candidate must have the ability to work remotely effectively as required in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands.
