    Job Summary

    The Trailer Technician Trainee is a developmental opportunity for individuals with related work experience in areas such as building or repairing heavy-duty trailers, hydraulic cranes, and mig & tig welding.

    As a member of the Transwest team, you will have access to a certification program that can help expand your skills and advance your career.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Fabricate parts as needed.
    2. Install components efficiently.
    3. Repair and replace suspension components when necessary.
    4. Test operation of completed units to ensure quality.
    5. Troubleshoot and repair customer units in the service shop and field when required.
    6. Diagnose and repair ABS and lighting issues.
    7. Remove, replace, and repair outer siding and upper/lower rails.
    8. Install aluminum and fiberglass roofs on trailers.
    9. Repair and replace flooring materials.
    10. Conduct DOT inspections on equipment to ensure compliance.
    11. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

    Requirements:

    • Work in a variety of environments, including indoors and outdoors, in all-weather conditions.
    • Frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending, or stooping for prolonged periods.
    • Manual dexterity, fine manipulation, and ability to reach with hands and arms, lifting up to 80 lbs.
    • Operate simple to complex machinery.
    • Normal range of hearing and vision.

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • A complete set of hand tools with a rollaway toolbox is required.
    • Three years recent mechanic experience is necessary.
    • Experience working with hydraulic systems is essential.
    • Aluminum mig & tig welding experience is advantageous.
    • Familiarity with automotive electronics and 110-volt systems.
    • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
    • Ability to perform heavy component installations.
    • Candidate must be a motivated individual who can work independently.
    • Detail-oriented and able to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment.
    • Pass post-offer background check, physical, and drug screening.

    Additional Information:

    • Type: Hourly - Transition to Flat-Rate.
    • Compensation Range: $20.00 to $37.00.
    • Bonus Eligibility: No.
    • Reports To: Service Manager.
    • Shift: Monday - Friday.
