- Provide quality program services to the individuals served in a professional manner.
- Complete required documentation according to program standards and timelines.
- Coordinate and participate in the assessment and intake process for each client.
- Serve as an advocate and liaison for and on behalf of the client's rights.
- Provide peer support to those experiencing substance use disorder or related symptoms.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, education and skill-building around wellness planning, crisis planning, and self-advocacy to support the clients' recovery goals.
- Act as a liaison between the clinical team and clients to ensure each client's needs and preferences are understood and honored whenever possible.
- Aid clients to promote their physical, social, and psychological well-being.
- Coordinate resources and services to ensure clients have what they need to succeed.
- Provide education and skill building in the areas of wellness planning, crisis planning, advanced psychiatric directives, and self-advocacy skills.
- Provide services that help clients identify their strengths and to use their strengths to reach their treatment goals and identify and overcome barriers to participate in community resources.
- Connect the clients with resources such as visiting community resources to assist clients in becoming familiar with potential opportunities, and teaching and modeling the skills needed to successfully utilize community resources.
- Build relationships and encourage community-based activities, such as work, relationships, physical activity, and self-directed hobbies.
- Facilitate and conduct group interventions, if applicable.
- Transport clients to medical and/or mental health appointments where client requires support from staff in the appointment, according to program policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Attend all required and assigned meetings and trainings. Attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies and other applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Promote the mission, operating values, and agency services of CLUES within the community.
- Engage in outreach efforts to engage and educate community and professional partners about CLUES services.
- Carry out all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- This position reports directly to the Manager of Mental Illness & Substance Use Disorder (MI/SUD) Services, interacts on a regular basis with other members of an interdisciplinary team, and receives clinical supervision from a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor. This position works cooperatively with all program staff and other CLUES staff as requested.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
- Have a minimum of one year of recovery from substance use disorder required.
- Ability to pass the screening required by Federal Human Services Office of Inspector General required to assure the employee has not been excluded from working in the Health Care Programs which receive federal funding.
- Demonstrate leadership and advocacy skills and have a strong dedication to recovery.
- Must be free of chemical use problems for at least one year immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact.
- Must have a deep understanding of Latinx cultures, values, and traditions, and demonstrate cultural responsiveness in every aspect of the role, including communication with colleagues, staff, clients, community members; creating forms and documents; hiring and training staff; and in clinical supervision and consultation.
- Credential as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist required. Certification should be from a certification body approved by the commissioner of Human Services, such as Minnesota Credentialing Board (MCB), that demonstrates skills and training in the domains of ethics and boundaries, advocacy, mentoring and education, and recovery and wellness support.
- Effective communication in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing, required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written materials, including reports, contracts, and proposals.
- Ability to effectively present ideas and information in an organized and effective manner, including writing reports.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and respond appropriately to questions from clients, co-workers, management and external parties.
- Proficient working knowledge of email software, the Internet, databases, and common Windows-based programs, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Must be willing to attend training to advance technical skills and maintain appropriate skill levels to perform job duties.
- Must pass a criminal background check, DHS background study, and MS background check. As a condition of continued employment, staff person may be required to submit to periodic re-verification of these background checks.

Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The CCBHC's Peer Recovery Specialists are individuals who, through a non-clinical approach, share their personal recovery experience, engage with individuals to offer reassurance, reduce fears, answer questions, support motivation and convey hope throughout the treatment and recovery process.
CLUES' Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Abriendo Caminos, will be providing immediate access to supportive, high-quality, culturally responsive, and integrated Behavioral Health services and pathways to wellness for the Latinx Community, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
The CCBHC model provides CLUES with a model for sustainable Behavioral Health service provision, which translates to increased access to consistent care for wellness in the Latinx community.

Estimated Pay:
$23.00 to $27.00 (depending on experience & qualifications).
