. This position shall work onsite 2-3 days per week in one of our Northern CA offices (Oakland or San Francisco).

Who You Are

• You are an early-career to mid-level professional with a strong desire to grow and advance your career and to develop your planning and project management skills.
• You have a minimum of 2 years of related professional experience, at least some of which are working in a consulting environment, with responsibilities including conducting research, conducting fieldwork, analyzing impacts, and writing sections of reports.
• You apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address basic project issues.
• Proficiency with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is required.
• Experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is a plus.
• You hold a bachelor's degree with major coursework in environmental science or a related interdisciplinary field.
• You have strong project management, writing, and analytical skills, and effective oral presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information understandably to various audiences. You contribute constructively and cooperatively to solve challenges, and you foster teamwork and elevate others.
• You are located in California, ideally in Northern California and able to work onsite 2-3 days per week.

What You Will Do For ESA

• You will serve as an environmental planner, deputy project manager and/or contributing author for CEQA and NEPA documents for a variety of energy-related projects.
• You will be responsible for managing tasks as task manager or deputy project manager, supporting the project manager with tracking scope, schedule, budget and invoicing; handling project logistics; disseminating and maintaining related information and resources; meeting with team members to gauge progress toward task completion; responding to team member questions about assigned tasks or projects; preparing project research and analysis; supporting public outreach efforts relating to environmental review; and delivering project assignments on time and within budget.
• You will also consistently demonstrate your solid writing and attentive listening skills; participate in client meetings; and present information understandably and speak persuasively about moderate to complex topics to clients, agency staff, teaming partners, other project stakeholders, and the general public.
• You may also be involved in routine marketing tasks, such as preparing sections for proposals.
• You will thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment and be able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines, while working on a team or independently.

ESA has established multiple pay ranges tailored to the economic factors in the geographies in which ESA staff reside. For this position, the range is approximately as listed based on our anticipated hiring locations as noted in the above job details. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including but not limited to an individual's related experience, education, skills, and the city in which the applicant lives.
