    Summary



    This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

    You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

    Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

    General Description

    This psychologist has primarily clinical responsibilities.

    The psychologist for whom this functional statement applies functions as a Health Psychologist with the Psychology Section (interdisciplinary Care sub-section) of the Mental Health Service Line of the Richmond, Virginia VAMC with primary duties in the areas of Organ Transplant, GI/Hepatology and Consultation Liaison.

    The incumbent will be a contributing ad hoc member of the Consultation and Liaison Team in the Mental Health Service with focus on liver transplantation and treatment of addictive behaviors (inclusive of co-occurring disorders).

    The incumbent will provide support, as needed, in Pain Psychology, Bariatric Psychology and Psycho-Oncology. The clinical involvements of this psychologist will primarily comprehensive assessment, individual/couples/group psychotherapy interventions for individuals with physical health diagnoses.

    Clinical Responsibilities (80% time)

    • Ability to diagnose mental disorders and conduct psychological and/or cognitive function assessments/screenings.
    • Ability to treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders.
    • Provides a full range of psychodiagnostic services including assessment and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.
    • Performs evaluations for psychodiagnosis, treatment planning and functional evaluations.
    • Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including individual and group psychotherapy, couples therapy, family therapy, consultation, rehabilitation and psychoeducation.
    • Provides evidencebased, evidenceinformed, and promising psychotherapies.
    • Consults with medical center and CBOC staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.
    • Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, as appropriate.

    Administrative responsibilities (10%):

    • Adheres to operational policies and procedures for the treatment teams to which the incumbent is assigned.
    • Facilitates liaisons with other mental health and health care programs in order to effectively coordinate services.
    • Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients.
    • Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings.
    • May be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities.
    • Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs assigned using datadriven quality assurance processes.
    • If applicable, plans and oversees the completion of personal research programs, designed to provide information regarding program planning and relevant treatment approaches.
    • May present outcome data and research results at VA and regional or national scientific or professional meetings.
    Other Significant Responsibilities (10% of time)

    • Participates fully in peer review and quality improvement reviews of other psychologists at the Richmond VA Medical Center and its CBOCs.
    • Serves on CBOC, Medical Center, Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces as directed/indicated.
    • Represents Psychology on decisionmaking committees at the CBOC, Medical Center, or Healthcare System as directed/indicated.
    • Actively participates in leadership roles on local, state, and national professional organizations as directed/indicated.
