    Job Overview:

    The Patient Access Representative, Emergency Department Access Services, accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred:

  • Prior experience with hospital Patient Access/Registration and EPIC
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance
  • Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • N/A
  • Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem Day Shift, following a period of orientation and training
  • Weekend and Holiday Rotations
  • Essential Functions:

  • Interviews patient and or family to complete registration
  • Obtain/confirm all demographic and financial information is complete and accurate. Obtain and copy ID and insurance cards. Complete and copy all consent forms
  • Accurately complete the Medicare Secondary payer questionnaire (MSP)
  • Answers department phones quickly and relays all messages
  • Collect deposits, deductibles and co-pays so as to meet required cash targets
  • Maintain the required productivity and accuracy percentage as specified for job level
  • Obtain Advance Medical Directive information, patient specific
  • Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records
