    Description

    The General Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all field operations related to piping, plumbing, and mechanical construction activities. This role provides direct leadership to foremen and craft personnel while ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards. The General Foreman serves as the primary link between field crews, project management, and other trades on site.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervise, coordinate, and support multiple foremen and field crews performing piping, plumbing, and mechanical work
    • Plan, schedule, and assign manpower, equipment, and materials to meet project milestones and production goals
    • Interpret and enforce project drawings, specifications, codes, and company standards
    • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes, including OSHA safety requirements
    • Lead daily jobsite planning, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
    • Monitor productivity, quality, and workmanship; identify and resolve field issues proactively
    • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain workflow
    • Review work progress and submit accurate daily reports, time tracking, and manpower forecasts
    • Support material take-offs, field measurements, and coordination of deliveries
    • Identify potential schedule conflicts, constructability concerns, and cost impacts; communicate solutions effectively
    • Mentor and develop foremen and craft personnel, promoting teamwork and accountability
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite at all times

    Required Qualifications

    • Extensive hands-on experience in piping, plumbing, and/or mechanical construction
    • Proven leadership experience as a Foreman, Lead Foreman, or General Foreman
    • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including piping layouts, installation methods, and materials
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, P&IDs, and specifications
    • Knowledge of safety regulations, jobsite best practices, and quality control standards
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to manage multiple crews and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
