- Director of SP program, clinical skills preceptors
- Design, oversee and coordinate delivery of preclerkship OSCEs in the M1 and M2 year, end of clerkship OSCEs in the M3 year, and the summative clinical skills OSCE in the M4 year.
- Collaborate with the foundational sciences, clinical education, and assessment teams to design, develop, and implement our longitudinal clinical skills assessment system.
- Plan and implement OSCEs within the curriculum and develop innovative assessments to evaluate student's clinical competence in history taking, physical examination, differential diagnoses development, medical documentation (H&P, SOAP notes) and patient centered communication.
- Select, write, update cases and checklists
- Collaborate with SP program director to train standardized patients, grade exams, and develop a unified standardized patient program.
- Utilize clinical skills and simulation curricular / educational technology platforms (i.e. Simulation IQ, Blackboard, Progress IQ, One45, Bline etc.) to collect data and monitor student's progress in achieving annual milestones and competence.
- Develop and implement remediation plans for students who are not meeting expectations or performing poorly in clinical skills courses/OSCEs.
- Teach and facilitate case based discussions in pre-clerkship phase course.
- Participation in other related School of Medicine committees
- Participation in medical education research and/or other scholarly activities.

Description
Methodist University seeks a collaborative and innovative individual to serve as the Director of Clinical Skills for its new School of Medicine in partnership with Cape Fear Valley Health in Fayetteville, NC. The School of Medicine is an applicant program with the LCME. The Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine seeks to hire a highly qualified educational leader to develop and lead clinical skills education, a standardized patient program, and simulation within the pre-clerkship and clinical phases of the medical education program The Director of Clinical Skills will ensure innovative clinical skills, simulation, and assessment are implemented while applying best practices and utilizing up-to-date technology, and will also support the development of clinical cases to be used in the Foundational Science curriculum. The incumbent will collaborate with a highly skilled simulation team at the Cape Fear Valley Hospital simulation center. The identified faculty will be expected to design a develop a comprehensive and longitudinal approach to clinical skills education and assessment across the medical education curriculum and ensuring that our clinical skills curriculum is aligned with the medical school's education program objectives. The incumbent will have the opportunity to pursue scholarly interests and is expected to contribute to the medical school via participation in service-related activities including committee/workgroup membership and other volunteer efforts. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years teaching clinical skills in a medical school. An MD/DO with a certificate or master's degree in health professions education is preferred.
