    TITLE

    Assistant Director, Promise Initiatives & Outreach

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Assistant Director will support a portfolio of Promise program sites and will be the primary Promise Liaison to administrators, teachers, nonprofits, and students within their portfolio. The Assistant Director will manage all aspects of program delivery, including implementation and troubleshooting, conducting site visits, managing relationships with school stakeholders, training campus staff, and data collection and analysis. The Assistant Director will be responsible for ensuring the portfolio sites achieve goals related to student service and impact. The primary goal: to increase the number of students from Promise schools enrolling in and completing college. The Assistant Director performs responsible work in the coordination of recruitment efforts of a targeted population- first-year and transfer. Work is performed under general supervision and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

    Reports to: Director, New Student Programs

    Supervises: No supervisory responsibility

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

    Raises awareness of Dallas Promise, Tarrant To and Through, and other partnerships.
    Serves as the community face for the Promise Programs and represents all college partners.
    Supports counselors and college advisors in promoting Promise opportunities to students and parents.
    Plans, coordinates, and attends required programmatic events for students and parents.
    Provides knowledge in all aspects of the student enrollment and financial aid process, especially for the Promise students.
    Coordinates recruiting efforts for a targeted population by working with departments, schools, colleges and community programs.
    Provides college transition counseling in areas including, but not limited to: financial aid application process, college application process, enrollment support, college transfers, and career development.
    Regularly contacts assigned students by phone, email, online messaging, and possible personal meetings to address specific needs and troubleshoots problems.
    Organizes and maintains up-to-date student information on student progress including milestone and deliverables in database and physical files to the point of matriculation.
    Ensures students consistently receive highest quality of services, that their needs are met, and that each student makes satisfactory progress toward program goals.
    Serves as a liaison between prospective Promise students and external constituents with TWU academic and student service departments.
    Assists in coordinating Promise events, summer programming, and training & development activities that will supplement school-year programming.
    Contributes to transition strategies with district and college leaders/staff to ensure students' seamless transition from Promise team to higher education partner.
    Cultivates High School, Higher Education, and other Partner Relationships.
    Supports community outreach efforts including parent engagement and partner cultivation.
    Conducts research (on-line, via interviews, and through site visits) to identify effective practices and present findings in high-impact presentations for diverse audiences.
    Works collaboratively with partners to monitor progress, overcome obstacles, and lead projects to successful outcomes.
    Provides accurate data reports while gathering feedback to update Salesforce, efficacy of tools and practices, and connect resources where campuses have gaps.
    Manages the promotion and facilitation of specific partnerships with external constituents.
    Prepares regular reports on recruitment activities.
    Represents Admissions on internal and external committees, task forces, and councils.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES

    Supports the TWU Office of Admissions
    Performs other duties as requested.

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

    EXPERIENCE

    Three or more years of experience in an education-focused non-profit (including community-based organizations) institution of higher education.

    REQUIREMENT

    Valid Texas driver's licenses and a safe driving record such as required by the university for Driver's Authorization.

    Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

    Knowledge of University policies concerning admission.
    General knowledge of academic programs requirements.
    Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
    Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
    Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
    Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The employee must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and lift and/or move up to 30lbs. The employee may be required to travel and work weekends.

    SAFETY

    TWU promotes a safe working environment. Employees are responsible for completing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, and supervisors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment. Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources and Risk Management within 24 hours of the incident.
