This position is based at our Grand Island, NY site. This will be a Sunday - Thursday 3rd shift hours 10 pm - 6:30 am.
**Responsibilities include:**
Support the establishment and maintenance of storage control performance metrics.
Provide strong leadership direction working within a diverse workforce / management support (coaching, performance management development (PMDs), training, issue resolution, etc.) to associates.
Supervise the activities of all personnel on assigned shift; execute operations to ensure daily safety and quality shipment objectives are achieved
Take ownership of safety initiatives including incident investigations and reporting within the required timeframe. Participate in safety walkthroughs and continuous improvement activities.
Support inventory accuracy activities to achieve annual targets for the Grand Island Site.
Support storage inventory management processes (work order closures, bin checks, proper onsite and offsite storage by temperature, maintain quality samples, etc.).
Support daily team effort of manufacturing support (re-palletize, wrap and band pallets, use various PIVs to get pallets to appropriate storage conditions).
Drive accountability for team involvement including, but not limited to procedure trainings, Gemba Walks, JDIs and daily 5S duties.
Provide role-model leadership in driving change to achieve continuous improvement through Lean best practices in Warehousing, Material Flow and Logistics.
Serve as a point of escalation for Customer, Supplier and/or Manufacturing supply issues.
Support and contribute to continuous improvement activities for service level performance.
Help management review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring consistent and reliable processes and procedures comply with all regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Maintain work areas within the spirit and guidelines of 5S in accordance with Lean manufacturing and company guidelines.
**Education:**
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.
Experience:
2-3 years of experience within a distribution/operations environment
Minimum of one year of leadership experience in a team lead or team leader position
Demonstrated ability to motivate teams and establish goals, metrics, data and plans to achieve organizational objectives.
Experience coaching, interviewing, and proven track record of issue resolution.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external customers / suppliers; including success functioning as a change agent / team leader and team member in a multi-skilled, dynamic and matrix business environment.
Knowledge of lean material concepts and application in warehousing and logistics.
MRP experience, Knowledge of E1 a plus.
MS-Office Capabilities (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Experience and certified training with a wide array of Powered Industrial Trucks, preferred.
Working conditions:
Works in a warehouse environment and may operate under various temperatures including room temperature degrees C), cold-room (2-8 degrees C), and/or Freezer-room (minus 5-minus20 degrees C). Constant motions of walking, bending and lifting to 40 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. May intermittently sit at a desk for a long period of time to answer the telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional local travel may be required.
