GIS Software Development Engineer with Security Clearance - Honolulu, HI, United States - SMX

SMX is seeking a GIS Software Development Engineer to support a new USINDOPACOM J5 office developing an AI/ML enabled plans capability (STORMBREAKER)
As a GIS Software Development Engineer, you will be working on an accelerated development project in support of a high priority Department of Defense program
This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, integration of existing capabilities, as well as development of new applications
You would be a great candidate for this position if you have a test-first mentality to provide the best and most intuitive software for customers
You understand the nuances and challenges with cross-platform development
You have a passion for developing technology solutions for big data environments that illuminate critical capabilities and vulnerabilities for customers
The candidate for this position must have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively
They must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, make decisions in the midst of ambiguity and meet deadlines
The successful candidate must be a self-starter that needs minimal supervision

Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret SCI clearance which requires US citizenship for work on a DoD contract
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Write maintainable code, perform peer code-reviews, write technical design documents, and participate in technical design discussions.
• Work in a team environment to collaborate and strive for consensus by making data-driven decisions.
• Work in an agile environment to continuously deliver high quality software.
• Have a high attention to detail, working closely with business and technical stakeholders to drive measurable results Required Skills & Experience
• Experience full stack web development, using Node, Typescript, React and/or other modern frameworks.
• Familiar with building secure software using modern security principles
• Experience working with GIS tools and common data formats
• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
• Some travel may be required Desired Skills & Experience
• Familiarity with CesiumJS
