    Job Summary

    The Converting Rewinder Operator plays a critical role in the printing industry, ensuring the efficient operation of converting and rewinding equipment. This position involves handling various substrates, materials, and machinery to produce high-quality finished products. The Converting Rewinder Operator is responsible for maintaining production standards, product quality, and safety procedures throughout the manufacturing process.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Equipment Operation: Operate converting and rewinding machinery to efficiently convert and rewind materials such as paper, film, or labels, following established procedures.
    • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain product quality by conducting regular checks, adjustments, and inspections during the production process.
    • Setup and Maintenance: Perform equipment setup, maintenance, and minor repairs to ensure uninterrupted production and minimize downtime.
    • Material Handling: Load and unload rolls of material onto the machinery, ensuring proper alignment and tension control.
    • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
    • Production Efficiency: Maintain production efficiency by optimizing equipment settings, minimizing waste, and achieving production targets.
    • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production data, including machine settings, downtime, and material usage.
    • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to coordinate and prioritize tasks and ensure seamless production flow.
    • Perform other duties as required or as requested by Supervisor or Manager.

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Knowledge of converting and rewinding equipment operation and maintenance.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Basic computer skills for data entry and equipment interface.
    • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy rolls of materials.
    • Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in a manufacturing setting.

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
    • Previous experience in operating converting and rewinding machinery in a printing or manufacturing environment is preferred but not mandatory.
    • Training can be provided for candidates with a strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Knowledge of safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

    Physical Requirements

    • Standing and Walking: spend a significant portion of their workday on their feet, operating machinery, loading, and unloading materials, and moving around the production area.
    • Lifting and Carrying: may involve lifting and carrying heavy rolls of materials, which can weigh anywhere from 20 to 50 pounds or more. Operators should have the physical strength and stamina to handle these materials safely.
    • Bending and Stooping: may need to bend, stoop, and reach to set up equipment, perform maintenance tasks, or address issues during production.
    • Manual Dexterity: must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle materials, make precise adjustments to machinery, and perform quality checks.
    • Repetitive Movements: involves repetitive movements, such as feeding materials into the machine, monitoring production, and adjusting as needed.
    • Visual Acuity: Good vision is essential to inspect materials and products for defects, measure dimensions, and make fine adjustments to the machinery.
    • Hearing: need to be able to hear and respond to alarms, equipment sounds, and instructions from co-workers or supervisors.
    • Safety Awareness: Safety is a critical concern in manufacturing environments. Operators must follow safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
    • Stamina: This role may require operators to work extended hours or stand for long periods, so physical stamina is important.
    • Ishihara machine eye exam for perfect color and hearing acuity within normal limits.

    Typical environment of manufacturing and production facilities. Exposure includes but is not limited to continuous noise, scent of materials, bright workstations, machinery with moving parts.
