    As a Senior Specialist, Geotechnical Engineering at Flatiron, you will beresponsible for overseeing the geotechnical design of complex transportationinfrastructure projects, including major and unusual geotechnical features.

    You will lead specialized multi-disciplinary engineering teams, providetechnical insight, and resolve design and construction challenges. You willalso be responsible for performing technical reviews, engineeringanalysis, and presenting analysis and review findings at technical meetings.

    What you will be doing
    Lead the geotechnical design of complex transportation infrastructure projectscontaining major and unusual geotechnical features.

    Conduct technical due-diligence reviews of design deliverables, implementbest practice for design and construction needs, develop innovative andoptimized solutions, identify and mitigate key design risks, and ensurecompliance with contract and industry requirements.


    Provide engineering evaluation and analysis duties:
    site and laboratoryinvestigations, ground stratigraphy and parameters, ground andsoil-structure-interaction modelling, advanced geotechnical analysis,instrumentation and monitoring.
    Lead specialized design coordination and liaison with external and internalParties to provide technical insight and resolve design and constructionchallenges.
    Perform technical reviews and engineering analysis in an accurate,complete, and timely manner.
    Present analysis, review findings, and recommendations at technicalmeetings and to Clients, as requested.
    Capture and spread design innovation and lessons learned to all Districts.
    Maintain knowledge of Flatiron's company values and strategic plan.
    Support published corporate policies.
    Perform additional assignments per management's direction.
    What we are looking for
    Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering required.
    Master's Degree or Doctorate (PhD) in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
    Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

    Strong all-around academic knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering.5+ years in geotechnical, structural, bridge, roadway, pavement,drainage, or related construction industry experience is required.

    Experience with industry design codes and standards.

    Proven analytical and numerical industry design software knowledge required(Slide2, Settle3, RSPile, RSlog, RS2, Plaxis2D, ShoringSuite,LPILE, APILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, CPe-IT, spreadsheets, etc.).Experience with soil mechanics, support of excavation, shallow and deepfoundations, earth retention systems and slopes, ground improvement,dewatering, soil dynamics, numerical modeling in geotechnical engineeringis anEffective communication (verbal and written) and management skills areessential.
