We re looking for a Senior Counsel to join our team at Paramount Television Studios This is a hands-on position working directly with the relevant business divisions You will be responsible for leading and/or assisting in the drafting of complex agreements essential to scripted television including acquisitions production co production licensing legal counsel risk management policy procedure rights management IP capacity We are seeking an experienced attorney with strong transactional skills sophisticated understanding of evolving content landscape ability to manage multiple high-stakes matters simultaneously great balance of legal expertise business acumen Critical in protecting studio s interests mitigating legal risk advising executives on strategic business legal matters Reports to VP Legal Affairs Overview Responsibilities Deal Structuring Lead assist drafting wide range of complex agreements Acquisitions Rights underlying property acquisitions talent deals production production services licenses Licensing distribution Deals sale license studio-produced content third-party platforms international distributors Legal Counsel Risk Management Provide timely practical strategic legal advice development production finance teams regarding legal risks rights analysis chain-of-title intellectual property clearances guild union compliance Develop implement best practices forms policies increase efficiency maintain high standard legal compliance across all studio operations Partner internal IP rights management teams outside counsel rights matters copyright trademark clearance issues Capacity Proven ability oversee high volume transactions prioritize key deadlines various business teams Basic Qualifications 8+ years experience drafting negotiating commercial transactional documents contracts scripted television development production major production company TV studio network streamer top-tier entertainment law firm Juris Doctorate J.D. degree accredited law school California Bar Membership eligibility register in-house counsel California Working knowledge major WGA DGA SAG-AFTRA collective bargaining agreements Extensive experience intellectual property law copyright trademark Exemplary drafting negotiation skills attention detail Additional Qualifications Top-notch communication skills judgment strategic analysis Impressive interpersonal presentation skills communicate skillfully internal external stakeholders levels Demonstrated ability oversee multiple projects simultaneouslyJob description
