    Description

    Quality Engineer:

    The Quality Engineer drives the improvement in the manufacturing plant, the supply base, and in the corresponding non-production areas.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Effectively utilizes data, lean principles, and problem-solving methodologies to solve problems, prevent recurrence, and propose solutions.
    • Provides support to Quality Management Systems (ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 45001.
    • Assists in the development and maintenance of Design and Process FMEAs if needed.
    • Maintains corrective action system and initiates corrective actions (i.e., 8D's) to determine root cause for customer complaints, internal and external audit findings, and internal and external product failures/defects.
    • Maintains internal audit system and conducts internal audits.
    • Maintains and creates control plans, process FMEAs, and process flows.
    • Performs capability studies.
    • Assists in designing or purchasing measuring equipment to meet product specifications relative to quality.
    • Supports continuous improvement projects and quality assignments.
    • Provides leadership in the support and improvement of the Company's current ISO9001: QMS
    • Participation in Quality System Audits to the current ISO9001 standard.
    • Lead efforts to continuously improve QMS processes, and manufacturing product yields, as well as reduce customer complaints and aftermarket Incidents (Non-conformances).
    • Lead KAIZEN, or other continuous improvement projects to support business objectives.
    • Facilitate the creation of Control Plans and Quality Plans.
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret manufacturing data/nonconformances, using statistical analysis methods to drive quality improvements. Quickly escalates important insights to Operations.
    • Leads/supports supplier issues and corrective action; follow up activities and onsite auditing.
    • Works with suppliers to develop and improve capability and drive continuous improvement.
    • Monitors key supplier performance through measurement of production line statistics, field data, inspections, and audits.
    • Prepares a summary of performance and communicates to appropriate management as well as suppliers.
    • Develops effective measurement systems and quality inspection methods to ensure all manufactured components meet quality requirements.
    • Assists in product/process analysis and investigations related to production non-conformances (MRB) and customer complaints.
    • Participates in the area meetings to review Quality metrics and activities.

    Qualifications:

    • 2-4 years with a technical or business degree required.
    • Must have demonstrated expertise in problem-solving skills, including ability to identify, investigate, and countermeasure manufacturing or supplier-related technical and/or systemic issues.
    • Must be able to build effective teams and work with suppliers, plant manufacturing, and purchasing to ensure the deliverables are met.
    • Preferred experience with manufacturing processes for components.
    • Needs to have experience with mechanical, welding, assembly components and functional requirements.
    • Must be a self-starter who can work both independently and together in teams while improving quality and reducing costs.
    • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the company.
