We seek an innovative, visionary individual to lead our highly ranked Department of Physical Therapy. The PT Department Chair position presents an opportunity for a dedicated physical therapist educator to provide leadership, promote a prioritized agenda of scholarship and faculty development, contribute to growing interprofessional activities, and lead curricular innovation.

    The DPT program has developed a modular and integrated curriculum built on a foundation of case-based, self-directed, and collaborative learning that reimagines the teaching-learning interaction. The DPT program is ranked in the top 10 programs nationally. The onsite Center for Interprofessional Education and Practice provides further opportunities for interprofessional education and practice for our exceptionally talented pool of graduate students across all programs.

    The MGH Institute is a graduate school in Boston that prepares leading health professionals through the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Healthcare Leadership. Located in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard, the MGH Institute is affiliated with Mass General Brigham Healthcare System, which includes the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, as well as a physician's network, community health centers, and other healthcare entities.     Responsibilities. The Chair of the PT Department is responsible for all aspects of academic leadership and administration within the department, including strategic direction, mentorship, faculty and staff development, budgeting and fiscal management, curriculum development and oversight, program evaluation, and development of new initiatives. The Chair also has responsibilities in teaching, service, and scholarly activities. The Chair is responsible for supporting the Institute's goals of preparing health professions leaders, advancing health care for our diverse communities, and contributing to a culture of equitable and inclusive excellence.

    Qualifications. The Chair must hold a terminal academic doctorate (PhD, EdD or equivalent), be eligible for rank of Associate Professor or Professor, be eligible for licensure in Massachusetts, and have a minimum of 6 years of experience as a physical therapy educator. Previous academic leadership and experience with CAPTE accreditation are desirable. The applicant should have strong communication skills, demonstrated leadership qualities, and a record of teaching, scholarship, and service.
