    Job Summary

    The Hotel Accounting Manager will establish and manage accounting processes; supervise the reconciliation/analysis of ledger accounts; serve in a leadership role to senior accountants, staff accountants, and accounting clerks; may manage one or more specialties in the accounting field; may manage relationships with 3rd party providers of accounting services and/or accounting system support, as well as monitor compliance with Service Level Agreements for managed hotels; may manage billing and/or vendor relationships; reviews all documentation to ensure that it complies with La Quinta and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts standards and regulations.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelors Degree required with a major in Accounting or related field.
    • 5 to 7 years of experience in accounting and management role
    • Hotel back-office experience preferred.
    • Current knowledge of US GAAP.

    General Requirements

Position requires contacts with customers or the public involving persons of some importance on matters requiring explanation and discussion and where the effort to influence becomes important

    Fundamental Requirements

    • Develop and implement reconciliation procedures for various balance sheet and income statement accounts. Review and post journal entries for monthly Accounting close. Oversee monthly accounting close for specific properties
    • Leadership of Accounting team
    • Oversee grouped portfolio general ledger accounts. Coordinate and respond to inquiries from owners related to those accounts.
    • Consult with, and provide assistance to, internal and external auditors on accounting procedures used in the department. Responsible for Hotel Accounting work papers used by auditors during the quarterly reviews and annual audit.
    • Makes sure that accounting controls are established and properly maintained.
    • Develop and implement corporate accounting procedure used in accounting for various general ledger accounts for the hotel. Give input for hotel level accounting procedures.
    • Performs special projects as assigned
    • Managerial skills needed for making recommendations within a department in the areas of compensation, staff selection, disciplinary action, complaints, staff performance appraisal, and similar supervisory duties. Plans, assigns, and evaluates the work of subordinates for effective operations and results of the unit.
    • Makes recommendations or decisions, which usually affect the assigned unit/division, but may at times affect operations, services, individuals, or activities of others outside of the assigned unit/division.
    • Work is analytical, non-standard and widely varied requiring the interpretation and application of a variety of policies and procedures. Analytic ability and inductive thinking are required for the application of multiple, technical activities. Problem solving involves identification and analysis of diverse issues.
    • Makes varied decisions; supervision is present to establish general objectives relative to a specific project, to outline the desired end product and to identify potential resources for assistance. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate of available guidelines and procedures, interpret precedents, and adopt standard methods or practices to meet variations in facts and/or conditions.
    • Responds to and handles unfamiliar situations with little supervisory guidance.
