Position Overview

Geofabrica is seeking a motivated and technically rigorous Electrical Engineer to support the development of Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) for commercial and government use.

This role involves end-to-end electrical system design spanning schematic capture, PCB layout, embedded firmware development, system integration, prototyping, and production support.

The successful candidate will contribute to mission-critical aerospace systems operating in demanding environments and will work closely with mechanical, software, test, and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable, innovative designs.

We welcome strong recent graduates with relevant electromechanical development experience and prefer candidates with 3 or more years of industry experience.

Prior UAS or autonomous systems experience is beneficial but not required.

This position will support a U.S. Department of Defense program and will require proof of U.S. Citizenship to be eligible for employment.

Responsibilities
Design electronic circuits and produce detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.

Develop and integrate electrical subsystems for UAS platforms, including avionics architectures (power distribution, flight control interfaces, navigation subsystems, communications buses), propulsion control systems (motor controllers, ESC integration, engine management interfaces), sensor systems (IMUs, GPS, air data systems, payload interfaces), and control and mission systems (embedded controllers, actuator drivers, telemetry systems).

Support full lifecycle hardware development:
requirements definition, design, prototyping, testing, qualification, and production transition.
Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting across complex electro-mechanical and embedded systems to resolve performance or reliability issues.
Develop and support firmware and embedded software for microcontroller-based systems.
Collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM), assembly (DFA), and testability (DFT).
Support production ramp activities including documentation release, configuration control, and engineering change implementation.
Participate in project planning and scheduling to ensure engineering milestones are met on time and within scope.
Contribute to test planning, validation, and verification activities, including bench testing, HIL/SIL testing, and flight test support.
Maintain documentation consistent with aerospace and defense development standards.

Desired Expertise & Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering required.
Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering preferred.
Experience
3 or more years of relevant industry experience preferred.
Strong recent graduates with demonstrated electromechanical product development experience will be considered.
Experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, or high-reliability embedded systems environments is a plus.
Experience with uncrewed or autonomous systems is desirable but not required.
Technical Skills
PCB design, schematic capture, and layout using software tools.
Experience with multi-layer PCB design, high-speed routing, grounding strategies, EMI mitigation, and power integrity considerations.
Surface Mount Technology (SMT) familiarity and understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
Prototyping and hardware bring-up experience, including rework and lab debugging.
Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and embedded architectures.
Firmware development in C/C++ (or equivalent).
Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet).
Experience with power management systems, battery management systems (BMS), or engine control units (ECU) is advantageous.
Strong root cause analysis skills across electro-mechanical systems.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with strong documentation and communication skills.
