    Mechanic Job Description

    QPS Employment Group is seeking a skilled Mechanic to work in Lincoln, NE. This is a direct hire, 1st shift position.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Determine vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic tests to identify worn and damaged parts.
    • Maintain equipment availability by completing preventive maintenance schedules and installing upgrades.
    • Perform all work according to schedules, policies, procedures, and quality and safety standards.
    • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
    • Make alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, hydraulics, pneumatic, and traction units.
    • Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
    • Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
    • Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
    • Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
    • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

    Requirements:

    • Vocational/technical diploma; or three to six months related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • Previous experience working on diesel Mack trucks preferred.
    • A valid CDL driver's license is preferred or must be able to qualify and obtain a CDL within a reasonable amount of time.
    • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the company's insurance plan.
    • Must be flexible regarding work schedule. Must be able to work nights and weekends.
