Job Title: Lab Technician
Duration: 12 Month Contract (possibility to extend or convert)
Location: ONSITE - 13000 Deerfield Parkway, Ste 300, Milton, GA 30004
Hours: 8am - 5pm

The Lab Technician position plays a key role within the Surgical RD&E team. This role demands a meticulous individual with practical hands-on skills and effective communication abilities (both verbal and written). Collaboration with various team members from different departments such as Clients, RD&E, Manufacturing, Marketing, Regulatory, and Quality is crucial to meet objectives. The primary focus will be to support new product development prototyping and pilot production projects, encompassing materials testing, product testing, and inspection.

Primary Responsibilities

Execute materials and product testing following established protocols
Conduct materials and product inspections based on defined specifications
Prepare specimens by cutting and conditioning
Operate and maintain all lab equipment after certification
Ensure a safe laboratory environment
Organize the lab using the 5S methodology
Communicate test and inspection outcomes with internal clients (RD&E personnel)
Operate within all quality systems and regulations, especially those related to medical devices
Readiness to assist with additional tasks for the Maker Space (Design Engineers) that may deviate from the daily lab operations
Adhere to GLP (Good Laboratory Practices)

Basic Qualifications:

Hold an Associates degree in a technical field (preferably Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Automation) with a preference for 3+ years of experience
Work under general supervision on assigned tasks or project portions - Demonstrate self-motivation
Possess experience in a mechanical test lab environment
Familiarity with Instron electromechanical test systems (including BlueHill software)
Understanding of plastic film materials, pressure-sensitive adhesive components, and other medical device materials
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word
Skilled in using small inspection equipment like calipers, micrometers, timers, temperature measurement devices, etc.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Comfortable collaborating in cross-functional teams
Desire to learn; comfortable tackling projects in unfamiliar domains
Experience in a regulated environment, preferably in medical device Class 1 Disposable Medical Device Product Development and/or production

Preferred Skills/Education:

Possess a Bachelors degree in a technical field (preferably Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Automation) with 3+ years of experience
3 years of technical experience supporting lab practices
Demonstrate self-starting abilities and the capacity to work independently
Have a keen eye for detail
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Desire to learn; comfortable tackling projects in unfamiliar areas
