10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more
than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas,
including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources,
payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative
counsel.
This position is located in the Furnishings
Department, Office of Logistics & Support (L&S), Office of the Chief
Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The
purpose of the Office of L&S is to provide important logistical services to
the entire House community, including building, repairing, moving, setting up,
and breaking down furniture; facilitating office moves; and managing all
accountable equipment assets within the House. The purpose of the Furnishings
Department is to build and repair furniture and install carpet and draperies in
the House offices. Within the Furnishings Department, the Cabinet Shop is
responsible for new construction of cabinetry and furniture and for repairing
existing furniture in the offices of Members, Committees, Leadership, and
support staff. This position serves as the Journeyman Cabinet Maker.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs basic furniture construction with professionalism.
- Performs quality repair on all types of furniture to include desks, cabinets, chairs, sofas, etc. in the shop and onsite.
- Reads and comprehends blueprints, drawings, and written specifications.
- With limited supervision, produces and assembles components of high-grade furniture and installs completed constructed items.
- Follows the lead of senior shop personnel and adheres to shop policies, processes, procedures, criteria, and protocol.
- Applicant must be able to work independently with the ability to start and stop projects as needed.
5 years of relatable experience. (Production/building trade.)
* Minimum 2 years cabinet / furniture maker experience.
* Must bring a portfolio to the interview.
* Available to work 7:30 am. - 4:00 pm. shift. Some Saturdays as needed.
