- Supervise daily breakfast, lunch and snack times.
- Use appropriate disciplinary methods.
- Maintain a clean, well-organized and safe environment.
- Assure child safety by understanding and following safety and security procedures.
- Observe children and communicate appropriately with program supervisors and parents.
- Attend and be an active participant at staff meetings and training.

The YMCA Summer Program Counselor provides fun and educational care to children entering 1st-4th grade in a summer day camp environment.
June 3rd-August 9th, 2024
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Previous experience working in an a childcare or educational setting preferred, but not required. Must have the ability to handle competing demands and take direction from the program director. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with parents and co-workers regarding the child's activities, behavior, eating, etc. CPR & First Aid Certification and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date required and are provided by the YMCA. This job is open to candidates ages 16 and older.
The YMCA Summer Program, or Y Explorers, is for children entering 1st-4th Grade and offers participants fun and educational experiences through weekly themes and daily activities that focus on achievement, relationships and belonging. The program is located at the YMCA at 1608 North Washington in Bismarck.
