    POSITION: Operator I, Coating - 2nd Shift

    LOCATION: Jupiter, FL

    STATUS: Hourly non-exempt

    JOB SUMMARY

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
      1. Execution of thermal spray coating on gas turbine components as per the required technical specification
      2. Carrying out tests and trial coatings for development/implementation and process stability testing purpose
      3. Programming of the thermal spray equipment
      4. Preparation of components and equipment before process start (blasting/masking)
      5. Visual inspection and measurement of coating parameters as per specification
      6. Removal of coating overspray and masking residues
      7. Quality check of the performed work before operation step confirmation
      8. Reporting of technical deviations with the Non-Conformance Reporting System (NCR)
      9. Preparation/confirmation of the required quality documentation
      10. Reporting and monitoring of used production time per production step
      11. Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and tools
      12. Keeping the working environment and machines in a clean and proper condition
      13. Following Environmental Health and Safety regulations while working in fast pace environment.
      14. Performing waste handling in accordance to EHS procedures & legal requirements, such as:
    • Segregating waste generated
    • Placing hazardous and non-hazardous waste in appropriate containers
    • Maintaining waste containers closed and in good condition
    • Labeling waste containers with appropriate hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste labels
    • Marking the start accumulation date to hazardous waste label once the container in the satellite accumulation area becomes full.
    • Arranging internal waste transfer to central accumulation area
    • Contain and clean up area incidental spills
      1. Continually improving operations and the working environment
      2. Other duties as assigned

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education & Training

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • Technical training or experience on CNC programming is highly desirable
    • Complete specific on-the-job training towards meeting essential duties and work area performance criteria.
    • Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM's EHS Training Matrix, which includes:
      1. Initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management training.

    Skills/Experience

    • 1+ years of experience in operating thermal spray equipment (i.e. GTV, Sulzer Metco) or 2+ years of experience in operating and / or programming of CNC equipment or production robots
    • 1+ years of experience in reading and interpreting work instructions and coating specifications
    • 1+ years of experience in handling installation fixtures and measurement equipment needed for operation
    • 1+ years of experience working in a production environment
    • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes
    • Basic knowledge of MS Office programs, SAP, and time keeping applications

    Physical Requirements

    • Stooping/Crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
    • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
    • Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
    • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
    • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time
    • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another.
    • Pushing & Pulling
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
    • Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
    • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
    • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
    • Being able to wear required PPEs for specific tasks performed, such as respirators, Tyvek suit, gloves, face shield, etc.
    • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
    • May require travel (air & ground) with short notice.
    • Ability to cooperate and work with people
