- Consults with faculty and/or parents about social emotional and developmental needs of students
- Develops and facilitates programs to meet individual social emotional needs of students
- Supports students in the classroom and provides 1:1 as well as small group guidance
- In conjunction with the Assistant Heads for Teaching and Learning and in consultation with faculty and parents, the counselor develops individualized learning plans for students
- Maintains, manages, and implements yearly ERB testing. Reviews results with parents and faculty
- Administers and implements academic screeners or assessment measures as needed
- Consults with the Assistant Head for Teaching and Learning on Transitional First placement
- Conducts academic and developmental screening assessments for identified students and makes recommendations for intervention when necessary
- Provides monthly reports on student progress
- Plans and organizes parent education programs
- Coordinates tutor and therapist schedules
- Supervises a team of learning specialists
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
- Master's degree or higher in clinical or counseling psychology, school counseling, social work, or related field required
- Minimum two years experience as a school counselor
- Current licensed or associate-level licensed mental health professional in Texas (LPC or LPC-A) preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate leadership and facilitative skills
- Must demonstrate competency with Microsoft Suite
- Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment
- Maintains discretion with sensitive information
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to continually and repetitively use fine motor skills and manual dexterity to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for an extended period of time
- Ability to continually and repetitively use large motor skills to bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach above the shoulders
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods

Position Overview:
The role of the School Counselor is to promote student success, provide support services, and respond to identified student needs. Implement a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic and personal/social development for all students. Provide parents with guidance and support in Early Childhood and Lower School. Partners with faculty in support of students' needs.
