- Research and identify potential leads to expand our prospects.
- Foster connections with academic institutions to increase Faculty and Student membership, and promote the establishment of student chapters on campuses to raise awareness of career opportunities in venue management.
- Leverage IAVM resources to stimulate interest across all Regions and Sectors.
- Attend industry events and utilize all available technologies to convey the value of membership.
- Participate in retention efforts as needed to increase renewal results.
- Assist with inviting past members to reinstate membership.
- Create and execute effective marketing campaigns to promote membership benefits and attract new members.
- Drive new member revenue growth by achieving sales numbers as outlined in the department budget.
- Build strong relationships with potential clients with the goal of converting them to membership.
- Tailor your pitch to meet the needs of each prospect and be persistent in following up.
- Respond to web and phone inquiries promptly.
- Promote membership through social media channels.
- Analyze metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate strategies.
- Provide regular reports and updates on membership sales and service activities.
- Collaborate with staff members to leverage existing education programs, training, events, research, and other services available in the acquisition of new members.
- Demonstrate continuous sales growth in all membership categories.

- Handle other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of association membership, marketing, or sales experience preferred.
- Degree preferred in Marketing, Business Management, Sports Management, Hotel Management, or a related field.
- Experience with sales or membership databases, specifically, association management software or customer relationship management systems (CRMs).
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
- Focused, goal-oriented, and ambitious self-starter.

The International Association of Venue Managers, Inc. (IAVM) is seeking an experienced sales professional with a background in association membershipsales.
The individual will have specific revenue goals towards meeting the $2.2M department budget to
ensure fiscal year objectives are met or exceeded.
The Membership Sales Manager will be responsible for acquiring new members from these venue types:
arenas, convention centers, exhibit halls, amphitheaters, fairgrounds, performing arts centers,
stadiums, universities, etc. The position's principal focus is to increase growth in the
Professional, Young Professional, Allied, Faculty and Student membership categories.
Through sales and marketing activities such as making daily cold calls and relationship-building,
the membership sales manager is responsible for generating new members, researching, and qualifying
prospects to generate new members and achieve membership and revenue goals. The selected candidate
will effectively use and maximize leads from IAVM events and affiliate organizations and trade
exhibitions to convert them to members.
