Special Requirements / Qualification Profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science or Engineering

related field

• 5 +/- years of experience

High degree of creativity, ability to work both independently, and with a cross-functional team
Familiarity with

warehouse/distribution

processes
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Familiarity with SAP is desired but not a requirement


Purpose of the Job:

• As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for influencing the business through your ideas, research and development of new packaging and packaging efficiencies.

You will have the opportunity to:
construct, calculate and supervise internal and external containers and packaging for SMP Tuscaloosa


Main Tasks:
Develop and analyze packaging options with internal teams and external suppliers
Provide flexible and innovative packaging solutions that drive a competitive advantage
Ensure priorities are aligned with overall project priorities
Ensure delivery of assigned objectives for scope, time, budget, and cash flow
Identify most cost-effective options while maintaining package integrity
Own and manage packaging projects
Prepare and maintain packaging specifications
Work through resource availability, external constraints and shared functional or operational resources to identify opportunities for improvements
Ensure designed packaging protects product quality to end customer
Support initiatives that shorten new product and project cycle times
