    Job Summary/Basic Function:
    Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry is seeking a full-time, academically-minded faculty physician with a passion for patient-focused care, community service, and research to contribute to our mission to educate tomorrow's physicians. The Department of Psychiatry is recruiting an Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychiatry. Rank is commensurate with experience.
    As a member of the Psychiatry faculty team, this position will have opportunities to directly contribute to academic development, learner experiences, community-based research, academic programming, and clinical practice. WSU BSOM employed faculty maintain their clinical practice through the BSOM practice plan, Wright State Physicians, Inc. Clinical effort expectations are fixed, but actual practice setup and practice locations are generally flexible.

    Our community-based medical school, Boonshoft School of Medicine (BSOM), est. 1973, is affiliated with six major teaching hospitals, two federal institutions, and over 30 other healthcare institutions. BSOM learners get focused training with a community-based, diverse set of patients, practices, and facilities. BSOM has 13 accredited residency programs and 10 accredited fellowships, with opportunities for growth. BSOM helps educate over 212 graduate students, 510 medical students, 488 residents & fellows each year.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Prior to the effective date of appointment, successful candidates must have:
    MD, DO, or MBBS degree, and
    Completed Psychiatry Residency, and
    Board Certification in Psychiatry (or Board-Eligible^), and
    Unrestricted Ohio Medical License, and
    Federally-issued DEA License.
    ^ Board-eligible by date of hire is acceptable with the mutual understanding that successful candidates will complete Board Certification completion as soon as practicable after hire and no later than 12 months after the date of hire.

    Successful candidates will receive offers contingent upon satisfying these requirements prior to their start date. Residents who are graduating within the next twelve (12) months are encouraged to apply.
    Assistant Professor candidates must meet all the requirements above by their start date.
    Associate Professor candidates will additionally need to meet the time of service and publication requirements by their start date, as outlined and governed by WSU BSOM Faculty Affairs policies:

    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience with clinical observation and evaluation of Psychiatry residents.
    Experience with didactic teaching and/or administrative contributions to graduate medical education programming.
    Proven knowledge and interest in research, publications, and grant submissions.
    Proven leadership and ability to function professionally and collaboratively with community stakeholders, faculty peers, medical students, and Psychiatry residents and fellows.
    Ability to serve as a model for excellence in research and clinical care.
    Essential Functions and percent of time:
    50% WSU & BSOM Learner Education & Research
    Classroom didactics, with opportunities for curriculum development and course direction as assigned by the Director of Medical Student Education and Director of Research within the Department of Psychiatry.
    Participation in learner evaluations and mentorship.
    Baseline protected effort for faculty participation in committees, meetings, outreach, assigned teaching, and other assignments from the Chair and/or Director of Medical Student Education and Director of Research within the Department of Psychiatry.
    Additional protected effort for academic and clinical research.
    50% Community-Based Patient Care & Leadership
    Community-focused clinical care and medical leadership in the Greater Dayton area.
    Generate and maintain community partner learner sites.
    Opportunities to provide clinical supervision at community partnerships for learner sites.
    Opportunities for you to customize your desired practice focus, including the option to take a small panel of private patients.
