    About the Role

    As a Psychiatrist with Optum, you will be part of our experienced team of professionals at Sherman Counseling, a leading counseling center in Wisconsin.

    We offer comprehensive outpatient resources including cognitive behavioral therapy, marriage and family counseling, Brainspotting therapy, psychotherapy, group therapy, and individual counseling for children, teens, adults, and seniors.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform acute and long-term psychiatric care, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment, and management of mental health conditions
    • Communicate condition information and provide preventative care
    • Understand patient medical history, current mental health status, serious mental illness symptoms, behavioral disorders, chronic disease, substance abuse, and other factors impacting mental health
    • Create and update treatment plans, conduct clinical documentation, and manage medication
    • Monitor patients, provide psychotherapy, intervene in crises, promote mental health awareness, educate patients and families, and collaborate with healthcare professionals
    • Order and interpret lab tests and diagnostic testing, make referrals, and provide supervision if applicable

    Requirements

    • M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) or D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine)
    • Active, unrestricted Psychiatrist license in the state of Wisconsin
    • Active DEA license for prescribing controlled substances
    • Board-certified by the ABPN or ability to obtain within 90 days
    • BLS certification and eligibility to enroll as a Medicare provider or able to terminate opt-out if applicable
    • Reside within commuting distance of Appleton, WI, and be willing to work on-site at W6152 Aerotech Drive in Appleton, WI, and other local centers if applicable

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
    • Knowledge of Spravato
