Responsibilities The Attending Psychiatrist is responsible for the provision of compassionate and evidenced-based direct care to patients in PES (Psychiatric Emergency Services) and for the supervision of residents, students, social workers, nurses and other team members involved in the clinical care of patients in PES.
We are looking for sessionals (moonlighters) who are available to work overnight in 8 or 12 hour shifts overnight (12:30am to 8:30am OR 8:30pm to 8:30am).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Completing comprehensive and ongoing mental health assessments, formulating treatment plans, initiating treatment, & managing psychiatric and medical issues of all patientsProviding sound judgment with regard to disposition planningConducting morning and evening rounds and providing clinical teachingOverseeing patient flow issues, managing the whiteboard and assigning cases to be seenSupervision of resident and student cases with feedback given on interview techniques, assessments, treatment plan and documentationManagement of inter-disciplinary team issues that affect clinical care of patientsDocumenting incidents in conjunction with nursingEvenings after 4:30pm
Overnights and Weekend Shifts:
In addition to covering PES, attending psychiatrists are responsible for coverage of consults on other inpatient services, BEST team pages and inpatient coverage of 10C, a non-resident inpatient psychiatric unit.
