    Job Description

    Job DescriptionPosition Summary:

    Schedules, manages, and dispatches drivers to customers and delivery sites using proprietary software, phone, and email. The Dispatch Manager also provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and demonstrates strict confidentiality with all team members while serving as an ambassador of our culture.


    Essential Functions:
    • Schedules and dispatches drivers to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs.
    • Troubleshoots and reroutes drivers accordingly to ensure superb customer service and accurate arrival times.
    • Relays messages, and information to or from the driver and other PPS personnel.
    • Confers with customers and drivers to address questions, conflicts, and requests.
    • Prepares daily work and run schedules.
    • Monitors personnel and/or truck locations to coordinate service and schedules.
    • Determines types or vehicles and personnel required according to work orders or customer specifications.
    • Responsible for coordinating vehicle maintenance with Fleet Manager
    • Fill in as a backup driver when necessary.
    • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, and continuous quality improvement objectives.
    • Adheres to all Company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Requires the ability to effectively build rapport with both internal and external customers.
    • Requires a positive attitude and the ability to function both independently and in a team setting.
    • Must be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage time effectively.
    • Must be computer literate.
    • Must be able to communicate in English regarding the essential functions of the position.

    Required Experience and Education:
    • Associate degree in logistics preferred; High school diploma or GED required.
    • 3 – 5 years' previous transportation experience required.
    • CDL strongly preferred.
    Physical Demands:
    • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 50 lbs.
    • Requires visual, hearing, and speech acuity.
    • Requires the ability to stand and walk long distances for extended periods of time.
    • Exposure to extreme temperatures and elements, noise, and fumes.
