    Job Description:

    The Packaging Optimization team performs daily activities supporting the flawless launch and distribution of parts going to the Customer Care & Aftersales (CCA) Original Equipment and Independent Aftermarket network. Customer satisfaction, quality compliance, and sustainability represent core focus areas that serve as our compass, as we establish and achieve world-class KPIs and SLAs.

    This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis. The Packaging Engineer designs, tests, and implements packaging designs that are an integral part of the Automotive Aftermarket Product Development process, keeping material cost, densification, sustainability, throughput, and damage reduction in mind to name a few critical considerations. Further, he or she reviews and improves existing packaging designs.

    Responsibilities


    • Handles the complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing


    • Fixes new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials, processes and provides creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions


    • Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications of product to resolve physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging


    • Establishes standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation. Evaluates and selects packaging suppliers / vendors; periodically conducts vendor reviews


    • Handles multiple projects simultaneously


    • Works closely with global suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing


    • Participates in product introduction teams to deliver new products to market

    Qualifications


    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Package Engineering and 2+ years of related experience


    • High level of analytical ability to solve unusual and complex problems


    • Must have the ability to make timely day to day decisions based on data and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment


    • High customer centric focus incl. attention to detail


    • Ability to work independently and alongside supplier personnel/other contractors in a cross-functional environment


    • Demonstrated proficiency in project management


    • Strong communication skills


    • Strong to advanced computer skills - MS Excel, Outlook, Access


    • Primarily a second or third shift position but business may dictate otherwise as needed

    Preferred


    • Profound knowledge of CCA packaging operations processes


    • Familiarity with the CCA warehouse network


    • Demonstrated competency using MS Access, Power BI at an intermediate to advanced level


    • Experience with AutoCAD


    • Ability to work independently with flexible work hours to support all shift operations
