    Description
    Performs duties in equipment repair, mechanics, grounds maintenance, janitorial, landscaping, hardscaping, sprinkler irrigation systems, forestry and horticulture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES


    • Maintains a safe work environment for all staff during daily activities in maintenance, installation, repair, troubleshooting, and design for parks and open spaces.
    • Duties include adjusting Height of Cut (HOC) of reel equipment daily, repairing, maintaining and rebuilding lawnmowers, gasoline powered tractors, and weed eaters, sharpening blades on reel and rotary mowers, replacing bed knives and reels as needed, sharpening chainsaw blades, and changes, repairs or replaces tires and tubes.
    • Performs analysis, repair, and maintenance to a wide variety of light, medium and heavy duty equipment
    • Performs repairs, tune-ups, oil-changes, replaces batteries, lubricates and services equipment
    • Establishes preventative maintenance then verifies that equipment is serviced when scheduled
    • Develops procedures for maintenance required on equipment per manufacturer specifications.
    • Makes service calls to job sites; evaluates and troubleshoots, makes adjustments, or performs on-site repairs
    • Duties include repairing, maintaining and rebuilding lawnmowers, weed eaters, blowers, chain saws, edgers, hedge trimmers, pole saws, air compressors, generators, foggers, and sprayers.
    • Repairs, adjusts and rebuilds two and four cycle gasoline engines, diesel engines, brakes, electrical, ignitions, exhausts, axles, and other similar mechanical equipment
    • Adjusts and repairs clutches, hydrostatic and manual transmissions, and drive trains on large mowers and other parks equipment.
    • Fabricates a variety of parks and maintenance equipment to include welding and metalworking projects such as replacing tongue jacks, brackets, racks, weld breaks or cracks on tie down loops, ramps or railing. Performs electrical and hydraulic circuit tests in order to repair, troubleshoot and/or replace hydraulic systems or electrical components.
    • Maintains lights on all utility trailers. Sands, primes and paints, trailers as needed.
    • Cleans equipment using appropriate materials and chemicals
    • Maintains records, orders and stocks parts and supplies, receives, and stores equipment, and picking up parts.
    • Develops and utilizes an inventory of spare parts and supplies to minimize down time on equipment
    • Records and maintains an accurate equipment log for detailing repairs made, parts used, and maintenance performed. Instruct personnel in the proper use and safe operation of equipment/tools and maintenance of equipment
    • Researches and makes recommendations to supervisor on types, models, and specifications of equipment to be purchased for department maintenance functions.
    • Initiates purchase orders for repair and maintenance supplies for all equipment.
    • Performs electrical and hydraulic circuit tests in order to repair, troubleshoot or replace hydraulic systems or electrical components.
    • Assist other crews as needed


    Operates equipment such as a variety of hand and power tools, riding/push mowers, pickup trucks, backhoes, front loaders, tractors, dump trucks, brush chipper, stump grinder, utility vehicles, skid steer, trenchers, spray rigs and towing trailers.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


    Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, with some specialized training in mechanics, plus three years of experience in maintenance management of automotive, golf, agriculture and/or construction equipment and small engine repair.


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used for automotive, agriculture and/or construction equipment repair.
    • Considerable knowledge of combustible, diesel or gasoline engines, transmissions, valves and generators.
    • Basic working knowledge of hydraulic circuitry, cylinders and motors.
    • Ability to operate a variety of hand, power and pneumatic tools to repair light to heavy-duty equipment.
    • Ability to perform welding and metalworking projects on equipment.
    • Ability to read and comprehend schematics.
    • Ability to operate a hydraulic press and drill press.
    • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
    • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
    • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
    • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.

    LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid state issued drivers license.

    Obtain Forklift Certification within one year from hire date.
